52-week High

The 52-week high is the highest price a stock has traded at over the past year. You'll see this number quoted alongside the current price on most stock charts and financial websites—it gives you a quick sense of whether a stock is near its peak or has room to climb. Why care? If a stock is trading near its 52-week high, it's been a strong performer, which some investors see as a good sign (momentum) while others see as a warning (overpriced). Conversely, if it's far below the high, the stock may be beaten down or out of favor. For example, if TechCorp's 52-week high is $150 but it's trading at $100 today, you know it's down about 33% from its recent peak.
